What is "Locally Sourced" and how is it defined?

Interest in local product demand is increasing among our customers. Local products include agricultural products grown, harvested, or produced within the distribution range of a Sysco Operating Company. A “Local Sourcing” label in Shop has been applied to certain products based on the place they were grown/manufactured.

Locally sourced refers to products that are grown, raised, or produced within a geographic area close to our distribution operations—typically within the same state/province or within a certain number of miles/kilometers, depending on the site, product and applicable laws. This includes items from farms, ranches, and producers that support local economies.

Shop will label these items across various pages with the “Locally Sourced” badge, and will have a filter option when searching the catalog. As seen below.

Filters

A new “Locally Sourced” filter has been added across multiple shopping views, including the Catalog page (both list and grid formats), the My Items section, and all List pages such as Sysco Lists, Favorites, and Custom Lists. This feature allows users to easily identify and browse products sourced from local suppliers. The filter appears as a selectable facet and is deselected by default, giving users the option to enable it whenever they want to focus specifically on locally sourced items.
